About Rotate PDF

Rotation runs through pdftk, which writes the new orientation directly into each page's metadata rather than re-rendering the page — so there's no quality loss and no risk of the content shifting. That's the correct fix for PDFs that open sideways or upside-down, which happens constantly with phone-scanned documents, and with files merged from sources that were oriented differently. If pdftk isn't available on the server, the tool falls back to Ghostscript with page auto-rotation disabled, producing the same result through a different path.

The three options — 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, or 180° — are applied to every page in the document uniformly; there's no per-page selection in this tool's interface. If you only need to fix one page in an otherwise correctly oriented document — a single landscape chart dropped into a portrait report, say — use Organize PDF instead, which has an individual ↻ rotation button on each page thumbnail.

Key Features

  • 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, and 180° rotation options
  • Rotation written into PDF page metadata via pdftk — no re-rendering, zero quality loss
  • Automatic Ghostscript fallback if pdftk is unavailable
  • Applies uniformly to every page — use Organize PDF for per-page rotation control
  • Original fonts, images, and vector graphics preserved with perfect fidelity

Tips for Best Results

  • 1 Only one page needs rotating, not the whole document? Use Organize PDF's per-page ↻ button instead of this tool.
  • 2 After rotating, open the result in a PDF viewer to visually confirm every page is at the correct orientation before distributing.
  • 3 If a merged document has mixed orientations, rotate the individual source files before merging, or use Organize PDF afterward to fix pages independently.
