Merging rebuilds a new PDF page-by-page from your source files, in the exact order you arrange the file cards — so the output order always matches what you see on screen before you click Merge. Every page keeps its original visual content, dimensions, and orientation exactly as it was, which is why you can freely combine a mix of A4 and Letter files, or portrait and landscape pages, without anything being cropped, stretched, or reformatted to match.

One thing worth knowing: because merging works from each page's visual content rather than copying the source files' internal structure, bookmarks, clickable hyperlinks, and fillable form fields from the originals don't carry over into the merged file — the text itself, however, stays fully selectable and searchable, it just isn't rasterized into an image. If you need the merged file to keep working links or forms, that's a limitation to plan around.
