About Resize PDF

PDF resize changes the paper dimensions of all pages in a document — for example, converting an A3 document to A4 for standard printing, scaling a Letter-sized PDF to A4 for international distribution, or standardizing a custom-dimensioned PDF to a recognized paper format. All page content is proportionally scaled to fit the new dimensions, ensuring nothing is cropped or cut off. This differs from cropping, which removes page content, and rotation, which changes page orientation.

Common use cases include preparing large-format engineering or architectural drawings (A2, A1) for printing or sharing in A4, standardizing mixed-page-size PDFs received from multiple contributors to a single uniform format, or resizing PDFs to meet portal upload requirements that expect a specific page size. Vector content including text and line art remains mathematically precise after scaling; raster images are resampled proportionally.

Key Features

  • Five standard paper size targets: A3, A4, A5, Letter, and Legal
  • Content proportionally scaled to fit new page dimensions — nothing cropped
  • All pages resized uniformly to the same target size
  • Automatic fallback rebuild if the primary Ghostscript resize path is unavailable
  • Vector content (text, shapes) remains sharp at the new size

Tips for Best Results

  • 1 For architectural or engineering plans being reduced from large formats (A1, A2) to A4, use Compress PDF afterward to manage the resulting file size.
  • 2 Choose "fit to page" proportional scaling to preserve the full content area without any content being cut off at the edges.
  • 3 If you need different target sizes for different pages, use Split PDF first to separate them, resize each batch, then Merge PDF to reassemble.
