Frequently Asked Questions
About Excel to PDF
This converter reads your workbook and rebuilds each sheet as a plain bordered table — a heading with the sheet's name, then every cell's value (formulas show their calculated result, not the formula itself) in a simple grid with light borders. The whole document is generated in landscape orientation regardless of how the original sheet was set up, since landscape gives wide tables the most room before columns start wrapping awkwardly. Both .xlsx and legacy .xls formats are supported.
What it deliberately doesn't do is reproduce your spreadsheet's visual styling: cell background colors, custom fonts, conditional formatting, and any charts, sparklines, or images embedded in the sheet are not carried into the PDF. This is a data-table converter, not a print-layout renderer — it's built for getting numbers and text out of Excel into a shareable, read-only format quickly, not for preserving a dashboard's exact look.
Key Features
- Converts every sheet in the workbook, each with its own heading and table
- Formulas are evaluated — their calculated results appear as values in the PDF
- Output is always landscape orientation, giving wide tables more room
- Supports both .xlsx (Excel 2007+) and .xls (Excel 97–2003) formats
- Simple bordered-table styling: values and structure only — no cell colors, custom fonts, charts, or images
Tips for Best Results
- 1 This tool preserves your data's structure, not its visual styling — if a sheet leans on cell colors or charts to communicate information, that won't survive the conversion.
- 2 For a fully styled, pixel-accurate PDF with your original colors, charts, and formatting intact, use Excel's own File → Export → Create PDF/XPS instead.
- 3 After converting, use Compress PDF if you need to shrink the file further before emailing it.
