About PDF to Word
The primary conversion path runs your PDF through LibreOffice's document engine — the same class of rendering engine used by dedicated desktop conversion software — which is why layout, tables, and images typically come through with high fidelity for digitally created PDFs. If LibreOffice is ever unavailable on the server, a simpler text-only fallback still gets you a usable .docx by extracting each page's text into paragraphs, though tables, images, and precise formatting won't carry over in that fallback path.
One thing this tool does not do automatically is OCR: a scanned PDF (pages that are really just photographs of text) will convert with little or no usable text unless it already has a text layer. Run OCR PDF on a scanned document first to add selectable text, then convert to Word — doing it in that order makes a real difference to the result. Conversion accuracy for digital PDFs is highest on simple, text-heavy documents; multi-column layouts, complex tables, and unusual fonts may need manual touch-up afterward.
