About PDF Editor

PDF Editor combines page management and content markup in one screen: reorder pages from the left sidebar, use top toolbar tools to annotate, and edit the selected page on a live center canvas. Architecturally, your original page content is never altered — everything you draw, type, or place is rendered on a separate transparent layer in the browser and composited on top of the untouched original page when you save. That's why the underlying page quality never degrades no matter how much you annotate.

"Edit Text" works the same way, and it's worth understanding exactly what it does: clicking a detected line of text places a solid rectangle over it and adds a new, editable text box pre-filled with that line's content, on the same transparent overlay as everything else. Visually, that replaces what you see. Technically, the original text is still present underneath the cover rectangle in the PDF's content, and your new/edited text is drawn as image pixels rather than real selectable text — so it won't appear in a text search or copy-paste, and the covered original text can still be extracted by anyone using a text-extraction tool. This makes Edit Text a good fit for visual corrections and mockups; it is not a redaction tool, and it should not be used to remove sensitive information you need permanently gone.
